No Sitemix for May, as we continue to search for a more elegant, less Soundcloud-consuming way of delivering the mixes to you. But who cares about that right now when there’s a MAY DAY SALE going on!!

We’re making room for a few shipments of new distro items and a summer of new releases, so from now until May 8th, take 15% off any of our entire catalog (cassette, records, & digital), plus our distro items as well.

Click here for more details, or to RSVP to the sale event.

Happy Hunting,

Deathday – Cold Room

Deathday‘s self-titled cassette comes out next week (March 6th), followed by a Part Time Punks appearance soon after, and jaunt up the coast to play Sick Jaggers in Portland. Pre-orders are available now for the very limited cassette (100 copies!), and you can expect the vinyl version later this summer, as well as a few other vinyl gems from Deathday.

We’re throwing a listening party at the monthly FLUX soirée for the release next Tuesday, in Santa Ana. I’ll be spinning my first set since the move down to California – Cold, minimal electronic dance tunes selected by myself and the Flux residents. Join us at The Crosby – no cover. RSVP here.

Leaping into the dark wave…

As promised, here’s the first in our series of front page mixes, “STMIX001: Remy’s “what you hear” Mix”.

STMIX001 Remy’s “what you hear” Mix by sweatingtapes

I’d been racking my brain trying to think of a theme for this first mix, pulling records all week for a bunch of other mixes that are long overdue, and nothing was coming to me…

Having recently moved, I was going through a mess of boxes that hadn’t been opened since about 4 moves ago, and at the bottom of one of them I found a mix that I’d made waaaay back in 2002 for a mixtape trading circle I was a part of.

While I can’t say that this mix has aged well, or that it even fits with the kind of releases we do here at ST, I thought it might be interesting to share a snapshot of some of what I was listening to in ’02.

Expect a lot of scream-y post-hardcore, obnoxious transitions, random volume changes, and spock-rock hairdos.

Happy New Year,
xx

12/21/11

Starting on the first of the new year, we’ll be posting a new mixtape here and on our soundcloud each month, by a different ST band, artist, or friend of the label, similar to the one we had Vice Device do earlier this year. Maybe if you all like ‘em enough we’ll have cassettes made like we did of theirs too:

A Vice Device Mixtape. by sweatingtapes

And there’s a lil 50% off sale happening on our Twitter right now, by the way. if you’re quick enough…

Happy Hanukkah y’all!

Thanks to all that participated in our first “holiday sale” on Blue Monday. All orders were sent out that week, so you should be getting them very soon. please email us with any issues.

Every Monday from now until the new year, we’ll be making 2 of our ST 2011 Release Packages available to buy. They’re limited because they’re SO CHEAP – $30 for one of each of our 2011 releases – so don’t sleep in on Monday!

We’ll also be throwing little giveaways & specials here and there via Twitter/Facebook, so add us if you haven’t already…

Oh! Thank you as well to everyone who helped out, booked, promoted, let us crash, fed us, and came out to the shows on last month’s Animal Bodies West Coast Tour, as well as the recent tours that ExtrAlon∃ and Vice Device did separately, with our friends Hot Victory.

See you all again very soon.

Sweating Tapes is now firmly a West Coast label. with feet solidly planted in Portland & Los Angeles, we’re straddling the Bay, and reaching northward into Vancouver, BC. That doesn’t mean we’re not interested in bands elsewhere, it just means we’re casting our long shadow over this side of the continent as we gaze across the land, and sea, and focus our ears…

The new year is just around the corner, and we declare it the year 2012″ – with a gang of 12″ EPs, remix 12″s, and split 12″s planned, as well as a rash of cassettes and other goodies.

Stay up on the latest via the dominant social networks, or our low-dosage mailing list, at the links to your right.

Stay warm, and don’t be afraid to get sweaty.
